A great talk by Bruce Lawson from 2015 on responsive imagery. Here he talks about the increasing size of imagery, the monetary cost of large quality images, bandwidth concerns, and dealing with retina displays.

Bruce simplifies what could be quite technical when he gets into the guts of a browser and how it handles images. Lots of nuggets in this one!
