Villawood Properties teamed up with Salsa Digital in early 2013 to replace their existing corporate site to create an exciting, content rich and easy to navigate new platform, with a host of really innovative and fun tools to enhance the user experience.
Here are some of the things we love the most:
When the user wishes to explore a community and surrounding features, they do so via an easy to navigate interactive map. Using Google Map browsing functionality, ensures familiar navigation for the user, but adding custom pins, panels and other artwork makes the experience ‘Villawood’. With easily identifiable icons, a click each colorful pin provides images and specific information about each location including everything from shopping, to parks to recreation facilities.
The timeline was a fun addition to the site to show the how the company has evolved since its inception in 1989. It uses parallax scrolling, where layered imagery moves at different speeds (bottom layer imagery moves faster than the top layer). Using pictures and simple text this is able to highlight, in a really unique way, the major milestones throughout the companies history.
Whether it is viewed on a computer, tablet or mobile device the site is always easy to read and navigate due to its responsive design - if the browser screen is minimised in anyway, the interface and images all flexibly adapt to the changed size, therefore there is no cut-off pages and no additional scrolling. Further to this, it reduces any overhead for Villawood to manage content; they need only create and manage content in the one location, which is then reflected throughout all responsive iterations of the website.
Detailed search filters
At the core of Villawood is the product - House & Land packages. The listing page provides detailed filters to help the user refine their search such as the location, how many bathrooms the house has, to what Builder they prefer. The user can add the different packages to their favourites and in the detail page see all relevant information clearly displayed.
The Banner Maps gives a nice overview of where the Communities are located within the three states that Villawood operates in, VIC, NSW and QLD. A click takes the user through to a Community site packed with information to assist them in their search. This has benefits for the Client as well. When the Administrator creates a Community they supply coordinates which then determines the location of the pin on the banner map. Ultimately this equates to a single point of entry for a wealth of information, making it super easy and manageable for Villawood website administrators.
