A Salsa tradition

Every year, Salsarians vote for the Salsa champion for that year. Each person can give one team member three points, one two points and one person one point. They can also leave a comment for each point allocation.

It’s always a lot of fun at the Christmas party, when the comments and points are read out, tallied and then the impressive cup is awarded!

Alex Skrypnyk and Steve Worley take home the cup

This year, Alex Skrypnyk and Steve Worley are joint grand Salsa champions, with 18 points each.

Some of Alex’s three-point comments included:

  • Great leadership and ownership

  • Because he has an amazing work output, and comes up with visionary solutions to problems

  • Is it possible for someone to care about their projects too much?

  • Strong vision for product, strong commitment to Salsa

  • For your incredible contributions to both Civic and ONI — I am in awe at what has been achieved and continue to be impressed with your knowledge and what you bring to these projects

Some of Steve’s three-point comments included:

  • Steve plugs gaps all over the place, constantly delivering high quality work and crushing it on all fronts. Plus handsome and smart.

  • Super talented. Super calm. Super helpful.

  • The consummate duck…smiling happily on top of the water while paddling hard at 100mph and getting stuff done below the water

  • The embodiment of all Salsa values

  • Always available to help, and brings a positive attitude to everything he does

The runners up

This year, the runners up were Suchi (17 points) and Antoine (17 points). So we nearly had a four-way tie! In general this year there was a great spread of points across the team, with many team members ‘up there’. For example, we also had four team members sitting on 13 points — congrats to Govind, Greg, Peter and Richard.
