DrupalGov Canberra 2016External Link is being held on 8 February at the National Museum of Australia. This one-day event will bring together Drupal and govCMS experts, including Salsa and Acquia. The goal is simple: to help the public sector deliver on the innovative govCMS project—driving government at all levels to work from one content management system (CMS) for their websites. (If you’re new to govCMS, it’s built on the award-winning Drupal software, a system that’s easy to use, stable, highly secure and open source.)

After the opening and keynote address, three streams will give attendees access to a wide range of speakers and topics. Speakers include representatives from the Department of Finance (the govCMS project leaders), Acquia, Salsa, and other Drupal experts. The topics cover everything from data migration and transitioning to govCMS, to engaging case studies. At the end of the day, attendees will come together for a final panel on project management.

Salsa’s involved in two key events:

1. Dissecting govCMS

Fresh from the trenches on several govCMS projects, Kurt Foster (Salsa technical lead) and Alan Cole (frontend specialist) will be taking a look under-the-hood of govCMS and providing insights on backend configuration and frontend user interface/theming. This session provides a valuable, and most importantly practical, insight into using govCMS. Room 1, 11am-11.40am.

2. Project Management Panel

Paul Morriss, Salsa project director and seasoned veteran, will be on the closing panel talking about risk management, change management and best practices for government projects. Paul Morriss's expertise can help others manage large-scale and complex projects (and the smaller ones!), especially within the govCMS environment. Visions Theatre, 4pm-4.40pm.

Training: govCMS-in-a-day

Salsa is also hanging around in Canberra for an extra day to deliver the govCMS-in-a-day courseExternal Link on behalf of Acquia. This one-day course brings together two of Salsa’s regular training offerings. The first half of the day will give you a solid introduction to govCMS, covering the most essential features and concepts of Drupal/govCMS through hands-on activities. The second half of the day will be more detailed site building—you’ll learn how to manage media, build lists of content, manage user access to your site and more... Cliftons Canberra, 9am-5pm.

The bad news is that this event is sold out (well, bad news if you haven’t got tickets). However, if you’re interested in training please contact us about our Drupal/govCMS training solutions.

See you in Canberra
