In the beginning…

At the start of 2016 we decided to create a fortnightly blog that focused on digital transformation in government. It’s a fascinating space and an area we knew all our government clients would be interested in too, with many different agencies tackling digital disruption and using technology to drive transformation.

After kicking off the series with a definition and overview of DTIG in Australia (see What is Digital Transformation?) we blogged once a fortnight about some of the more theoretical transformation areas and some specific examples.

The best of 2016

Of course we’ve loved all our 23 blog topics this year, but if we had to pick our favourite six…

  • Tom Burton talks Digital (Issue #4) Tom Burton’s discussion of digital transformation during his keynote address at DrupalGov 2016 was frank and enlightening…and still relevant!

  • Digital innovation in Mackay (Issue #9) Mackay Council’s water saving initiative is a great example of DTIG.

  • Five tech enablers for digital transformation (Issue #10) The Huawei annual Global Connectivity Index analyses the ICT performance and progress of 50 countries and had some great tips on five tech enablers.

  • Big data analytics (Issue #14) Big data analytics is a growing area that can save your agency time and money, while also helping provide more targeted services to your citizens.

  • The Internet of Things (Issue #20) The Internet of Things (IoT) has a huge economic potential here in Australia and can deliver real benefits to citizens.

  • The power of open data (Issue #22) A recent draft report on data makes recommendations that will revolutionise the way Australia uses data. A definite hot topic at the moment.
